Deep

I admit I am a deep thinker. I do not feel comfortable in shallow conversations about the weather or the best movies or tv shows. Now, if the conversation leads to the science of the weather or the effects on people then I am interested. And if the conversation is about movies that have a deep thinking plot or theme, I will listen carefully and chime in with my thoughts.

Saying I am deep does not mean that I think I am smarter, though I do not think I am unintelligent. It does not mean that I can't converse with children or those who prefer the shallow end of the conversation pool. I enjoy a great talk with kids because they ask deep questions and see the world in a way most of us adults have long forgotten.

My favorite deep subjects center around God. Politics and most of societies issues will certainly draw me deep into God and His view and movement among us. So if you want to talk about God I will share what I know about Him and you can share what you believe.

One of my most favorite authors, Ted Dekker, wrote a series of books that i have read many times. These book have a sci-fi atmosphere and a decidedly spiritual theme. Black, Red, White and Green have taken me deep into seeking God. One passage tells of the encounter the main character had in discovering God. He dove into a pool and went deeper and deeper untill he drowned in the presence of God. He then arose out of the pool a different person. I often think of that sc

ene when I am diving deep into scripture or prayer. I am seeking God and He keeps drawing me deeper and deeper until I breathe in Him and drown in His presence. AHHHH. what bliss! I expect that someday when it is time for me to die, it will be like that for me.

So, deep is not the cheap part of me. Deep is the rich, extravagant me.
