Jesus: Fully human, Fully God. Yes, at Jesus' first coming, His first Advent, it seemed He was just another promised baby. But truth of prophecies fulfilled through Jesus' life reveals that God wrapped Himself in human flesh so He could complete His plan to rescue His creation from the grip of sin.
God in flesh surrounded by sinful people is hard to imagine. He is all holy. There is no darkness in Him at all, yet His love made it impossible for Him to sit on His throne and not make a way for redemption. And so He arrived, as all men, through the birth canal, through the waters, into the world He created with His word.
Being in the flesh, Jesus was able to see with human eyes, hear with human flesh, and touch through human skin. God, as Spirit also sees, hears, and touches. The wonderful and amazing truth is that we can see, hear and touch God!
Because Jesus came, Because He was the sacrifice that broke down the sin barrier between God and people, The Holy Spirit was released to fill those who invite Him into their lives. The Spirit of God, thus continues to dwell inside human flesh. The Spirit of God sees, hears and touches the individual hearts of those He has sealed for eternity. And we, who are flesh can see, hear and touch Him. We recognize God in creation and embrace the spiritual connection of believers. We hear His Truth when whispered in our hearts or spoken through those who speak the words they hear from The Spirit. We feel His presence in the quiet of our prayers, or in the simple loving touch of those He sends to minister to us. And we can reach out to others through the direction of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus, Thank You for coming in the flesh so we could see, hear and touch You. You have proved to be our Savior who has given us the gift of a Father / child relationship with God. I need Your forgiveness every day when I grieve The Spirit within me. Teach me the way to be aware of Your presence whatever is happening around me. I bow before You in submission to the leading of You Spirit.
