Jesus is coming back! Yes, He promised to return to gather up His followers and then finish the job of restoring the world.
We do not know when He is coming. Like His first coming as an infant, there will be only expectation. We will not have a set date in order for us to prepare. The world will be surprised at the sound of His trumpet call and the calling of His followers to meet Him in the air. Seems like a science fiction movie script, but Jesus has never lied and so we can believe this too will happen as He said.
The question is what are we to do while we wait in expectation. He gave us good news to share. We do not need to be perfect. We do not need to have all the answers. We do need to share the good news of why Jesus came to earth the first time, so that as many people as possible will rejoice at His coming again!
What is the good news? The good news is that Jesus is God and He came to earth as a baby who grew up to be a perfect man. His ultimate purpose was to reconcile sinful people and God once and for all time by being the perfect sacrifice for all sin. Only God could accomplish this. Only God could give us this kind of good news!
How do people become a part of this good news? We need not do anything but believe that it is true. God, through Jesus gave us a free gift and wraps it up and seals it with His Spirit! When we receive, we are given The Spirit of God to dwell within us. It is when Jesus returns that The Spirit takes us to meet Him in the air.
Will you be meeting Jesus face to face? Will you be praising and thanking Him for His gift of salvation? If you are not sure, you can be! Just ask! Tell Jesus you believe in Him. Tell Him you will follow Him. Then receive His Holy Spirit.
As we prepare for Christmas 2022, let's also prepare for Jesus to return. It may be today. It may be years, but He will come because He promised!
Jesus, You have always been truthful with people. You tell us when we are good and when we are bad. You never lie. Forgive me when I resort to lies, wanting to look better, or not hurt others. But You have shown us that lies always hurt more than truth. Give me boldness to speak truth. I want to be more like You.
