All Together Now

When we choose to begin a new journey, take a new path or change directions, it most often involves just ourselves. We choose to make a new habit, or change jobs, or turn our lives over to our Creator. But sometimes it involves others, like getting married, or a new relationship. Our choices become a collaboration, of two or three or a group. Each of these choices can be monumental in our lives.

The moment that 2022 became 2023 involved the world! Everyone stepped into 2023 together. I know, it was over different time zones, but the step was still made in the same direction. However, we all still wander on our own paths. We walk together in a tunnel of time, but we "Do our own thing" sometimes to the detriment of others.

I am reminded of the Christmas song, My Grown Up Christmas List. I like the song, but I do find fault in the idea that we can write out a list of what we want and expect someone else, Santa, or God to just wrap it up and put it under our tree. The list, in my opinion calls for every person who stepped into 2023 to have a changed heart.

We can only have a changed heart if God is involved, but that changed heart means we must make a choice to live by God's rules, not our own selfish ways. My prayer is that more people would turn their selfish ways (me included) over to God's directions. Then maybe we would not have lives torn apart, not have war, Healing would come to broken hearts, and we could reach out to others in friendship and without bias. It is our choice.

Maybe it should be a New Years Resolution, not a Christmas List?
