Cheap, Deep, and Vanilla

My Husband, Patrick, and I have a little joke between us. We both admit that I am cheap, deep, and vanilla. When he met me for the first time he said I looked like a country chick. I still am not sure exactly what he meant by that pick up line, but I was from the country.
I was born and raised in Puebblo, CO. When I was in second grade, we moved into the house Dad and Mom built out in the county. We were surrounded by farmland and eventually hadchickens, and horses (that is a longer story). So, Patrick was right. I just never thought I looked like a country chick because I have never liked blue jeans.
So, back to the cheap, deep and vanilla. Our dates were simple. I only required his presence to be satisfied. I did not need more than a burger or taco, or one drink to be happy. Deep is more about how I think. I love metaphores and like to take every thought just a step deeper. I am not a "how's the weather" kind of conversationalist. I am more of the "what did you learn about God today," person. I imagine all sorts of things if they are not spelled out in specifics. This gets me in trouble too many times. Then there is yummy vanilla! I love plain foods over the wild flavors. I cook plain and Patrick has to add his own spiced up flavors. Yep, I am no material, shallow, spiced up girl.
With all Patrick has had to deal with by being married to me, he has hung in there by my sidefor nearly 49 years. There is so much to be said about being part of a three-fold cord (Eccl.4:9-12) of God, Patrick and me. It is not easy to break.
