Delights

A delight is something of great pleasure or joy. I love this word because it describes my heart most every day! I find myself drawn to people, places, things, sounds (or silence), that moves me. I delight in beauty, but also in the depths of whatever may cause me to go deeper into God and His presence in my life. Both beauty and the pain of this world can open my eyes to the truth about how much God loves us.

Last Sunday (Easter), we walked into church and I spotted a mom feeding her baby by the door. She was relaxed, smiling and enjoying the moment. He was eager in his filling and comfortable in her arms. This was a beautiful picture of delight! As is my custom, I approached her and asked if I could pray a blessing over her child. She smiled and agreed. I asked his name and then prayed, "May you, James (name has been changed), live a long and healthy life, come to know Jesus as your Lord and Savior early, and walk close to Him all of your days."

I love spreading this blessing. I was delighted to be a part of this childs life for a short minute. I was delighted to make Mom smile too!
