Living Love Day

15 September 1973, I said "Yes". It was a choice I have made every day since. I is a choice to stand by Patrick no matter what feelings may come. I have come to know that feelings are like a kite held by a thin string. The kite dips and soars, goes round and round. It may fall to the ground or get stuck in a tree or a wire. Choices are bricks that build strong fortifications against the world. Winds may beat against the walls, but if choices are made through covenant promises, the relationship will not be tossed about and broken.

Patrick and I have had our feelings tossed about over the years, but our covenant promises have stood the test of time. We celebrate 49 years of that commitment. We have chosen to be the lighthouse for others coming behind us. We have chosen to let our roots grow deep so that through every season we can find nourishment and strength to make it through.

I am proud to be Patrick's wife. I am celebrating the love of choice, not the love of feelings. The love of choice is sweeter.
