My Voice

Roe v. Wade has been overturned, but this ruling has not changed anything with our next door abortion clinics, or the availability of abortions. But, we have hope that some lives will be saved as states make choices that protect these most vulnerable people.

I believe that we must become more helpful to women who find themselves in an unwanted pregnancy. They need financial, emotional and spiritual support during this stressful time. They need to know there is a loving community that will care for them, and their children.

Having said this, I want to tell a story that happened this week. I rarely post opposing opinions on other peoples FB post, but this week my voice had to be heard. A young lady who is a friend of mine on FB posted that (because of the reversal of Roe v. Wade) women no longer have control of their own bodies. I was not going to respond but decided to once I had decided my voice was to be heard, not in an argument, but to stand up for the right to life for the unborn. So I responded simply that the baby's body is it's own just as the woman's body is hers.

This did not sit well with my friend and so she responded that the baby has no right to their body if it cannot survive without her. so I let it go for one day. I took time to think it through and pray. I decided again that my voice needed to be heard in a non-argumentative, kind way so I finally responded. "...in my world view, I am not God to decide who lives and who dies. I can only say I believe the baby is living from conception. If we care for them after they are born, why not before? Babies cannot survive alone till much older (and later I thought some not until into adulthood). Will we eventually say it is okay to kill them until the age where they can care for themselves? Just thoughts. No arguments"

There has been no response. I have listened to what she said. I spoke out that her reasoning had faults. I did not belittle , yell or condemn her. My voice is important. The way I use it also is important. My friend may not have changed her position, but I do hope I gave her something to think about. It is time for our voices to be heard! Our Littlest people need our help!
