Taking down decorations, packing away lights, and putting them away in storage is a ritual we all seem to endure sometime in January. I think it contributes to the January Blues, the let down after Christmas.
Funny that all those wonderful gifts that delight us for a few weeks don't seem to matter much after the tinsel and trimmings come down. I find it odd that we seem to pack up our good tidings and feelings for others too. January makes us take a close look at our wallets and their emptiness is passed on to those who need help all year long.
So is January the month we lose our light, our joy, our generosity, our peace? It needn't be. It shouldn't be! If we truly believe that Jesus was born into the world because of His great love for us. If we truly believe that Jesus lived a life that we should follow and that He died and rose again for us to be free from a selfish, and unstable life, then all that He brings is available all year long.
In Jesus we have light, hope, joy, peace and strength! We give out of the abundance He gives us! his is a Christmas gift to us that gives over and over, all year long! Let's smile and sing rejoicing over a new year to shine our light into the dark world because with Jesus the light never dims!
