I have taken some time of reflection and prayer, seeking what I should say about the move of God happening now. This has not been an easy introspection for me. When I spoke before surety, I learned that I must carefully choose when and where to speak what God has given me in my private conversations with Him. This writing is my attempt to share carefully. I welcome my readers to respond. Grace will be provided.
First, I must say I am thrilled by the response of the students who heard the message and remained to be in the presence of God so they could be changed. This was not a planned experience. The handful of students who remained after the chapel service simply felt The Holy Spirit moving on their hearts to submit in humility to the renewing of their commitment to Jesus' authority in their lives.
These first hours remind me of the gathering of the disciples to pray after they had witnessed the resurrection of Jesus. Other than Peter we know of no other disciple who was married. Well, we do know that there were some married women among his followers. But among the apostles, if none were married, we can assume that they were young men. They may have been similar in age to the students at Asbury. They were believing in Jesus and yet had no plans as to what to do next. So they prayed. They had been reminding themselves of what Jesus had told them and then the Holy Spirit moved in them to go out and spread the word.
So what does this tell us about the move of the Spirit over these students? Well, in my humble opinion, it is not meant to gather people into one place. It is to commission them to go out and speak, not about themselves in the revival, but about Jesus and His salvation for all people. That is what the apostles and disciples did.
If we don't go to the place of this revival, do we miss out? Certainly not! Jesus has said that He is there in our midst even if there is only two or three. We can be revived to do God's planned work for us. We only need to ask.
This is the time! Are you being revived? Are you renewing the burst of light that accompanied your conception in the womb? Renew first, by humbling yourself before God, renew your commitment to be under Jesus' Lordship, and then let The Holy Spirit fill you anew with His oil that fuels that light!
Please share your story of revival!
