What Can I Say?

I really do like words! I love the Word of God. I love the sounds of words that fit well together. I love speaking about the things I learn, and explain how I can "see" words in my imagination. I love to hear words of kindness, love, and apology. I even like to hear words of rebuke when said lovingly and with kindness. But, sometimes my words, though intended to be kind, or helpful, or loving, are heard as hurtful darts.
What can I say? Should my words be silenced? If my words are silenced, so is my heart. God said in His word that it wasn't what goes into the mouth, but what comes out of it that makes him unclean. (see Matthew 15:11) Yes, some of my words are making me unclean, but parts of my loving heart that causes others hurt because of their own mindset, does not make me unclean.
Jesus spoke love from His heart. He was never unclean. But, so many are hurt by His truth. He never stops speaking His truth. His truth began in the beginning. It was preached by the prophets, sung by the psalmists, declared in the stories of the high and lowly.
So, my commission is to make sure my words are spoken from the love that God has placed in my heart, not from the uncleanness of the world. My words are to be true, loving, kind, uplifting, and always pointing back to the source of truth, love, mercy, and grace.
Lord, cover my words with Your love as they reach out to others. May my speach and my written words be a reflection of You.
